Welcome to the FitHab website!

I hope my message finds you and yours safe, healthy, and fit.

So happy to see that these large fires have been extinguished and that people are outside again breathing cleaner air.

It’s great to see families out walking, joggers, cyclists, and others moving about the community.

Many people are concerned with the spike in COVID-19 in the recent weeks.

People interested in training have asked me if I wear any PPE (personal protection equipment) when I train.

The answer is most definitely, YES.

Safety above all!

Training is done outdoors in fresh air and hopefully in the beautiful California sunshine.

The weather is getting cooler and its been raining lately. So my clients and I continue to train outdoors under a covering structure or we wear warmer and waterproof clothing. We maintain safe physical distance and not be enclosed.

We have continued our training efforts by following the safety standards needed to protect and respect life and health.

How can you complete any mission if you don’t put safety first?

So I continue my mission through FitHab® to contribute in the improvement in quality of life by helping clients and the community understand the importance of active living, by motivating and supporting them with knowledge to help overcome uncertainties.

I look forward to teaching fitness habits to you or some one you care about.

Thank you to my family, friends, and clients for all the support in these times.

Get moving this October!

I hope my message finds you and yours safe, healthy, fit, and free of the smoke and fires.

Last time I posted this picture and the sky looked apocalyptic.

A week later the air was back to normal.

The fact that these fires are occurring earlier and more often has made my line of work difficult but not impossible.

The fires have significantly contaminated air quality and we can take measures to prevent or reduce the effects it has on us.

On days when the air quality is bad, usually at around 150+ or less for sensitive individuals, I cancel training outdoors. Training can be done online indoors, so my clients can get their workout at home or work. I recommend that clients use HEPA air filters to clean the air indoors and especially when exercising. The effects of smoke/contamination are significant and people should protect themselves from contaminated air and more so when breathing frequently and deeply due to exercise.

When temperatures are higher than usual and air quality is bad, people should take appropriate precautions to ensure a safe exercise environment. Heat has an impact on how we perform and feel and especially when we exercise. Add bad air quality and heat and you get a bad mix. Proper hydration, keeping cool, being in a clean air environment will help prevent the effects of these enviromental variables.

Making the appropriate adjustments to exercise safer in these challenging times of COVID-19, smokey air, and high temperatures is top priority.

If you have any questions and/or are interested in getting into fitness habits that work; please feel free to contact me to get you or someone you know started.

Thank you for your visit and look forward to hearing from you.

COVID-19, Fires & Smoke and How We Can Keep Moving

Uncategorized

I hope my message finds you and yours safe, healthy, fit, and free of the smoke and fires.

Training on 9-9-20 when the sky looked yellow and the air quality was decent . Crazy times!
Yellow skys at the park.

For the last few month I have been training clients with the COVID-19 precautions in place. Training is being done outdoors in parks, backyards, or anywhere we can get fresh air and keep a 6-foot safety distance to one another. I always wear a facemask and use hand sanitizer.

It’s been difficult in the last month to train clients outdoors since the fires have been burning all over California. But when the extreme heat and/or smoke is not making training impossible, clients and I get back to doing some important work.

Training can be done indoors away from the smoke, the heat, and reduce close physical distance via the internet. This is a solution to facilitate the continuation of the training we do outdoors.

Clients are bringing equipment needed for training. Any equipment that I provide for use is disinfected.

A lot has changed in these times. With precautions and safety in mind, clients continue to greatly benefit from training.

The benefits from training are numerous. Besides the physical fitness benefits, you benefit from being outdoors in a more natural setting, breathing fresh air, getting sunlight, and the human and enviromental interaction.

If you are interested in getting into fitness habits that work; please feel free to contact me to get you or someone you know started.

Thank you for your visit and look forward to hearing from you.

Tools to use when movement is restricted.

Welcome to the FitHab® website.

I hope this finds you and yours safe and healthy.

For the last couple of weeks I have been keeping myself busy with tools that I use with my clients.

TRX Rip Trainer that I used today as part of my workout in the backyard.

After a nice run and practicing social distancing while running, I came home and used the TRX Rip Trainer to round out my workout.

As Randy Hetrick once said, ” It is the perfect reciprocal to the TRX Suspension Trainer. While the suspension trainer is largely about static strength and stability, the TRX Rip Trainer is about dynamic speed, power, and rotation.”, founder of the TRX training ystems.

The TRX Suspension Trainer is a great tool that I use along with others, but the TRX Rip Trainer gets my heart pumping and is more dynamic.

Check this video and see for yourself!

The Suspension Trainer uses less space and needs an above point for suspension, while the Rip Trainer needs a little more space and a point at waist height or so to secure it. Two great tools that complement each other.

In times like these where we can’t go to the gym or have a trainer come to you, these tools are great. They are easy setup solutions for anywhere.

If you are intrested in learning how to use the TRX Rip Trainer or any other sytems of exercise that I teach, please contact me.

As of last month FitHab is using online video training to reach clients and students.

Thank you for your valuable time and I wish you well.

Be fit to be helpful.

We are in uncertain times, but we are not certainly needing to stop exercising.

Welcome to the FitHab® website.

I hope this finds you and yours safe and healthy.

In all the years that I have been a fitness professional and a local small business owner, the fitness industry has not been impacted, as it is these days by COVID-19. The swine flu, bird flu, SARS and any other illness that I can recall never put such a burden on my personal training business.

As of last week I have stopped training or teaching clients and students in person to keep everyone safe and healthy. Doing my part in flattening the curve of the spread of this virus.

As a response and adaptation to this situation, FitHab is offering online training.

If you have no idea what to do (stressed out about it) or don’t have any equipment, or have a well-equipped home gym and need guidance and education; then what are you waiting for? I can teach and train you with what you have or in ways that can be low tech, but high impact on improving fitness. MovNat is just one example of this.

Training (one on one or group) and classes will be conducted via Zoom and will offer the same services that I have been until we get over this situation.

FitHab is also holding virtual group natural movement classes that are hosted on the Meetup.com website

So if you are interested in continuing to maintain or improve your fitness, please contact me to get you a spot on my training schedule.

I would like to give my thanks and appreciation for the support that my family, friends, and the FitHab community has given me in keeping optimistic and making me feel that I have a part in making a difference in helping improve lives via fitness.

You can read more about Natural movement on the MovNat website.

I wish you and yours safety, health, and fitness.

I want to send my thanks to all of you who have sent best wishes for a speedy recovery from knee surgery.

The journey of recovering from meniscus surgery has been interesting so far.

What do you do when you want to shower after knee surgery?

Watch this video and see how I got ready.

*Remember to talk to your doctor and get their opinion on how to care for your knee after surgery, even if it’s taking a shower or anything else.*

Heres the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcxESG59qmU

I have been working diligently on my own to rehabilitate my knee after surgery for the last six weeks. I have recovered well enough in three weeks after the surgery to work again with clients and/or students.

It’s a great time to start having fun with fitness goals or to continue your journey into learning and doing other valuable and effective fitness exercises in the beautiful outdoors.

As a fitness professional, I have noticed that the physical, mental gains, and the enjoyment that my clients recieve from training outdoors has a significant impact on them. Most people are indoors most of the day and rarely have enough outdoor exposure to sun light, fresh air, and other external stimuli.

FitHab hosts the Bay Area Natural Human Movement group on Meetup.com. These events are held outdoors on the weekends and teach MovNat fundamentals in small groups.

See BANHM on Meetup.com to learn more about MovNat training.
